Description
Gambir with the scientific name Uncaria gambir is, a native plant from Indonesia belonging to the Rubiaceae family and catechin is the main compound in gambier.
The method of squeezing or mashing the leaves and small stems of gambir turns out to leave a red color for various types of cotton threads and materials. The resulting red color will be sharper and can be combined with other colors. Even now, batik makers are starting to use Gambir to color batik cloth.
