Do you enjoy the relaxing feeling of lake view and atmosphere? If you do, then you will be happy to visit one of our wonderful destinations in the Island of Sumatra, Lake Toba. Recognised as one of the natural wonders in the world, this is the largest lake in Southeast Asia with a total area of more than 1,100 square kilometres and with a depth of around 500 metres.

With this size coverage, Lake Toba is often considered more as a sea than a lake. In addition, this place is also globally known as the largest volcanic lake worldwide. Around Lake Toba, people can also visit the beautiful Samosir Island, which is an island located right in the middle of the lake.

At Lake Toba, visitors can explore the beauty of the great lake, exquisite mountains and its surroundings plus also characteristic traditional house architecture. Here, they can enjoy delightful activities like swimming, sailing or even climbing.

Moreover, you can also get to know Batak people, who are the friendly local people in Toba region. To greet them in their local language, visitors can tell “Horas“, which is used to say welcome, good morning or farewell. Additionally, to thank them in their language, visitors can say “Mauliate” for thank you and usually, they will respond with the same words.

This place is not a destination to miss for people who want to explore different sensations at merely one place: lake, mountain, unique buildings and the hospitality of the locals. Furthermore, Lake Toba can be easily reached from the main towns in Sumatra Island. You can arrive there by a flight to Medan city and then by either a bus or a car journey that takes around three to four hours.
