In order to promote the 32nd Trade Expo Indonesia that will be held from October 11 to October 15, 2017, ITPC Milan, together with Indofood and the Embassy of Rome, organised Indonesian Night with the theme, “Spice Up Your Business” in Milan, on June 23 yesterday.

H.E. Indonesian Ambassador of Rome and for Malta, San Marino, Cyprus and international organisations, Ms. Esti Andayani, opened the event with her speech. During the occasion, the Ambassador said that the special night was an excellent opportunity to promote Indonesia’s trade, investment, tourism and culture as encouraged by President Joko Widodo.

Mr. President expected that with the right promotion strategies, bilateral trade can keep increasing, which was around three billion dollars in the year 2016. “We expected that this type of event can increase the recognition of Indonesian richness, diversity and culinary in other countries”, he added.

The Director of ITPC Milan, Mr. Agung Pramudya Fachrul Rahman, mentioned that he should be persuasive in approaching Italian businesspersons as Indonesia has so much to offer regarding business opportunities, including biodiesel from palm oil for sustainable energy solution, rubber (both natural and synthetic) and other potential products that are interesting for Italian businesses.

Agung Pramudya is optimistic that the interests of Italian businesspersons have been shown since Tuttofood 2017, international food fair held every two years in Milan. In May 2017, ITPC Milan participated at the exhibition, where Indofood also took part. For this fair alone, there were trade transaction potentials with the amount of $350,000.

As the representative of Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade in Italy, ITPC Milan commits to increasing the trade of Indonesia to Italy and the investment of Italian businesses in Indonesia. So far, the trade between Indonesia and Italy had surplus of 574.30 million dollar in 2016”, said Agung Pramudya.

For Indonesian Night, ITPC arranged four programs that were conducted simultaneously. There were Indonesian traditional dances and other art performances (two of them were performed by Enrico Masseroli, an Italian who loves Indonesia and has learned Indonesian dances for thirty years).

In addition, Fabrizio Millione, Italian Chef, also performed cooking demo of fried rice and gave his feedback about utilising Indonesian spices, making the dishes rich and have great flavours. Completing the event, Stefano Romano, Italian photographer who has launched his book “Kampungku Indonesia”, was also present to express his point of view about Indonesian culture and food tradition.

Business Clinic with ITPC Milan

After that, the event was continued with business presentation by Mr. Agung Pramudya, who also lead the business clinic. This session was business consultation for Italian businessmen who wanted to talk directly to Indonesian government officials (ITPC Milan, Trade Attaché, Agriculture Attaché and Economic Function Official).

Furthermore, various Italian importers and investors also attended, such as Veos SpA, Beacon Srl, Borobudur (authentic Indonesian restaurant in Italy), Bambu Design, Ms. Flavia Pioltelli (Potential Investor for tourism in Indonesia) and also Italian Chamber of Commerce for North Italy and also the one for Southeast Asia.

The Launching of Smart App Based on Augmented Reality

At Indonesian Night, ITPC Milan also launched digital promotion program based on Augmented Reality, an application named “Europe in Your Hand” that can be downloaded for free on Google Play Store and iTunes.

Mr. Agung Pramudya added that ITPC Milan follows digital media trend as an innovative and effective way of communication strategy. With this smart app, it is hoped that it could complete the promotional strategies on website, social media channels, printed media and product packages.

With this app, users can directly get detailed information by simply scanning the packaging or the label of the products. The information forms could be in video, three dimensions or redirection to the company websites.
